There was a while after I got back home that I couldn't sleep at all. Sometimes I'd be up all night. My mind was racing with the endless possibilities and the refreshing feeling of a new start. One of those sleepless nights I stepped outside to play a few songs so I wouldn't wake my girlfriend/now wife up. While playing I looked off into the darkness at the blackened edge of the woods, and imagined a man sitting just at the edge of the tree line. He was in all black and smoking a cigar. It looked like it could be the silhouette of Johnny Cash. I wondered who the man might be if not Johnny, and I settled on the Devil. I pondered on what kind of conversation a man who spent a lifetime making bad decisions might have with the Devil if given the chance. About 45 minutes later, most of the song was finished.
